Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the GIVE DETROIT website and services (the "Platform"). By creating an account, making a donation, or otherwise using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to create an account or make a donation.

• Provide accurate, current, and complete information when registering.
• Keep your login credentials confidential and notify us of any unauthorized use.
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

GIVE DETROIT facilitates donations to participating nonprofit organizations and campaigns. When you donate:

• Donations are voluntary and generally final and non-refundable, except as required by law or at our discretion in cases of error or fraud.
• Processing fees may apply and will be shown before you complete your donation.
• Donation receipts are provided for your records. Tax deductibility depends on the recipient organization and your individual circumstances; consult a tax advisor.
• We do not guarantee that funds will be used for a specific purpose described by an organization or campaign.

Organizations that list on the Platform agree to:

• Maintain valid nonprofit status and provide accurate verification documents.
• Describe campaigns truthfully and use funds consistent with their stated purpose.
• Comply with all applicable fundraising, tax, and charitable solicitation laws.
• Respond promptly to donor inquiries and requests for information.

We reserve the right to review, suspend, or remove any organization or campaign that violates these Terms or that we reasonably believe to be misleading or fraudulent.

When using the Platform, you agree not to:

• Use the Platform for any unlawful, fraudulent, or deceptive purpose.
• Post content that is harmful, harassing, hateful, or infringes on the rights of others.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts, systems, or data.
• Interfere with or disrupt the operation or security of the Platform.
• Use automated means to scrape or collect data without our written permission.

The Platform, including its design, logos, and software, is owned by GIVE DETROIT and protected by intellectual property laws. Organizations retain ownership of the content they upload but grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display it on the Platform for the purpose of promoting their campaigns.

The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. GIVE DETROIT does not endorse any organization or campaign and is not responsible for the actions, statements, or use of funds by organizations listed on the Platform.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, GIVE DETROIT will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the amount of fees you paid to us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if required by law. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will continue to apply.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Wayne County, Michigan.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms. We will update the "Last updated" date above when changes are made.
